What
is a Set top box?
Let's call it an 'STB' for
short.
An STB
connects to your antenna & receives digital
free-to-air (FTA) transmissions
from all of the television networks that cover your area. All of the
networks in Queensland (except for Bris 31) transmit Standard
Definition (SD) & High Definition (HD) programs.
The benefits of a STB
are:
-
greatly enhanced picture and sound
quality
-
additional services such as Teletext and
Subtitles
-
extra channels you may not have viewed
before
-
radio channels transmitted by ABC &
SBS
-
viewing is free and you can record all
programs
High Definition STB's are now reasonably priced.
Whether you have an old 34cm portable in the kids
room or an 80cm 'monster' you purchased only a few years
ago!
Plasma / LCD /Rear Projection televisions
can all be connected to a
STB.
The Australian Government will force
the closure of the current analogue transmissions in the near
future.
Now is the time to upgrade to
digital
